U10 SuperLiga Academy Program
Tryouts in the Fall of 2010

Boys Register Here for the
2010-2011 Fall Season

Girls Register Here for the
2010-2011 Fall Season

Our U10 SuperLiga Academy Program, is open to boys and girls, the SuperLiga will serve as a preparatory program for the Dallas Texans Florida Select Division. The focus will be on establishing the correct foundation of skills and decision making needed to make the transition to Select Level play at U11. Players will receive professional coaching twice a week and experience a number of different game play formats on Saturday mornings designed to facilitate and encourage player development.  The program is available at both Ashton Brosnaham and Roger Scott complexes.

The SuperLiga Academy hopes to attract the best young players in the area and provide the elite development program that they need to develop their game. It will also be a great option for the accomplished recreational player who now needs more than a traditional recreational program can offer, but doesn't carry the commitment of travel soccer.

• Professional Coaching
• Focus on skills, fundamentals, foundational decision making
• Variety of game play formats
• Fun learning environment
• Elite Technical Training

Q: Why the shift away from Travel Teams at U10?
A: We want to put the focus on the individual player at this age group and subject them to extensive technical training, fast paced small sided games, and basic decision making. We believe that putting the emphasis on an individuals' development, rather than a winning in a team format, will produce more accomplished players for the future. Also, with more and more States banning U10 Select Travel play, we wanted to establish and grow our program ahead of the curve. Over the past couple of seasons we have also seen a sharp decline in the number of U10 teams attending different tournaments, with most events struggling to make appropriate U10 Brackets.

Q: Does this mean that this program will be less competitive?

A: Quite the opposite. Our staff are very motivated to produce creative soccer players, and intend to create a very demanding environment, while also keeping it fun.

Q: When will they play games?..and what Format?
A: Starting in Aug 2010, DTF SuperLiga will compete in the newly formed Gulf Coast Academy League for U10-U12 teams, providing league play games once a month. They will also take part in some local tournaments, and will continue to play in club organized 3v3, 4v4 formats.

Q: This sounds GREAT!..How do I sign up?
A: Register online by clicking the link above.

How do I know what aged team to try-out for?

Please find your player’s date of birth in the chart below.  His/her “team age” is indicated in the column to the right.  For example, a player born on January 3, 1994 would have a “team age” of U17.

Should my player attend all tryout sessions?

Yes, we would like to see players at as many tryouts as possible. The more sessions your player attends, the better feel we can get for that player.  Players must participate in tryouts to be eligible for a team.  Special exceptions may be made for players with serious scheduling conflicts, provided the following:

  • The player pre-registered for tryouts online
  • The DOC was given prior notification of the conflicting schedule

How Will Players Be Evaluated?

Soccer is a player’s game. It is a game where a player’s value is determined by how he/she impacts the game. Dallas Texans Florida Coaches are trained to know what characteristics are important in determining the potential of a player.  Coaches will ask players to perform agility and acceleration exercises to test athleticism. You will see small group exercises so we can watch the player get multiple touches with the ball as we check for technical speed and speed of thought. Finally, you will see the kids play as we look for not only the impact they make on the game but how they make that impact.

Tryouts will be conducted by professional coaches chosen by the DOC.  Parents, managers, and/or board members will not be involved in the evaluation process of any player.

Who determines which players are selected to the team?

Team selections are made by the individual team coach(s) and approved by the DOC.

How many players will be on a team?

Roster sizes will be determined by each coach, along with the DOC, and take into consideration the need for a sufficient number of subs, yet not exceed FYSA roster limits.

Will some players be “cut” or does everybody make a team?

The goal will be to form the most competitive team(s) in each age division for both girls and boys. Unfortunately, this means that at times players will have to be cut.  If at all possible, we will seek to form multiple leveled teams. The highest level team will be known as the Dallas Texans Florida.  The 2nd level team will be known as Dallas Texans Florida Red, followed by Dallas Texans Florida White.  Regardless of the level of team a player is on, we can assure you that by the end of the playing season, you will see a remarkable difference in his/her playing ability.

What do I bring to tryouts?

Players should bring their pre-registration form, shin guards, cleats, a ball, and water.

What happens after that?

Once rosters are decided, players will be asked to attend a special “signing day” to collect registration materials (including the registration fee of $175), perform uniform sizing and meet fellow players & coaches). This year's signing day will be held at Will Call Sports Grill at 22 Palafox Place in Pensacola at 1:00 PM. The is a perfect opportunity to gather all club members and cheer on the USA as they battle England in the FIFA World Cup. The club is giving away prizes to the players that participate. Register for your FREE tickets online at http://www.eventbrite.com/event/701642632

During the summer months...

A team manager, decided by the coach, will facilitate communication through the summer.
