Expo Camp features players from all across the Gulf Coast!
The 3rd Annual College Expo Soccer Camp was hosted by Dallas Texans Florida on July 18-19-20 at the Ashton Brosnaham Sportsplex and was a tremendous success! Approximately 200 players took part in this unique event which featured 12 College Coaches from around the South East. Players were trained by 2 different College Coaches each day, exposing them to different techniques and coaching styles as well as giving them the opportunity to showcase their talent for recruiting purposes. College Programs attending were: UF, UNF, UAB, UWF, USA, Belhaven, Mobile, Spring Hill, Webber International, Darton, Andrew. "We made sure we had Coaches from all different classifications, D1, D2, NAIA and Junior College, to ensure all players in attendance could showcase for every level of collegiate play." said DTF Director of Coaching, David Kemp, "We were extremely lucky to have Linda Hamilton from UNF here, a former National Team Player and World Cup winner from 1991." Hamilton, who won an NCAA title with UNC and appeared 82 times for the US National Team, had this to say about the Expo, "I thought the Texans Expo Camp was a great experience for me as a coach. I was able to get to know the players and see them train and play. I would definitely come back to the next one."
The Expo has more than doubled in size since the 1st one in 2008 and it seems the reputation for this great event is spreading as players from all across the Gulf Coast were in attendance. Kemp commented on this, "We were very happy to see players from our friends at Perdido Bay, Bay United, Crestview, Niceville and Mobile join in and get some great training and exposure. We hope to grow this into a true showcase of the talent on the Gulf Coast. We are already planning next year's event."
